Your partnership in the event enables TESOL Ministry, a 501.c.3 nonprofit, to provide free resources, training & support for community based English as a Second Language programs in North Carolina and throughout the nation.
The event will fund our Fall Curriculum Initiative which will include a variety of free events and resources:
- Phase 2 of the ESL Curriculum Exchange – A website where organizations and individuals can share high quality English as a Second Language curriculum, lessons and supplemental materials for a fee or free for others around the world to download. Partnering with professors in Education and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) around the country, we’re writing a rubric to evaluate submissions to the Exchange to ensure that volunteer teachers and tutors can download material, confident that everything on the exchange is high quality. All submissions will be reviewed by trained ESL professionals using the rubric to ensure excellence.
- Curriculum Panel Webinar with Q&A – Panelists will discuss how to choose appropriate curriculum based on learner needs and program variables like capacity, volunteers, training, etc.
- Online Adult ESL Curriculum Showcase – We’ve invited publishers of a variety of ESL text books and curriculums to share about their curriculums and answer questions from community based ESL program directors, teachers and volunteers. We’re building an addition to our current website featuring the showcased curriculum, including: information provided by publishers, a purchase link & optional discount code, and a section encouraging comments from the community to share ideas about how they used the curriculum in their various settings. To sign up to attend or showcase curriculum, click here.
- Using AI Webinar with Q&A – Participants will explore how to use AI tools to create supplemental material to enhance classroom lessons.
Your support will enable us to offer these services free of charge to organizations that are often staffed by volunteers and teach low or no cost English classes to immigrants in their communities. We expect that becoming exposed to a variety of excellent curriculums and learning how to choose an effective curriculum for their individualized situation will allow program directors to make better curriculum decisions, resulting in better learning outcomes for their students, ultimately improving English proficiency of the adult English learners in their programs.
“TESOL ministry has made me feel more connected and supported. I’m grateful for this ministry. The resources on the webpage, informative webinars, and connection at our annual conference give me encouragement and hope as I serve refugees through ESL.”
